Announcement: We will be closed for essential maintenance and refurbishment from 16th - 23rd September.

Our Story

The Oven Restaurant Middlesbrough is a family run independent restaurant, located on Linthorpe Road in the heart of Middlesbrough, close to Teesside university.

Opened in 2015, it is not Tarek and Lisa’s first foray into the restaurant business, their previous brainchild and original restaurant was in Darlington which they owned and treasured passionately from 2005-2015, when they decided to relocate to Middlesbrough.

They most notably cooked for Tony Blair and George Bush when they visited the Dun Cow in Sedgefield in 2003.

As one of Middlesbrough’s premier restaurants Oven Restaurant is the perfect location for everything from a business meeting, large family party, or an intimate dinner for two.

Oven Restaurant is vibrant and serves innovative dishes that mix classic and modern, British, Italian, Mediterranean and Arabic flavours, served simply and using the best locally produced ingredients.

During the day there is a relaxed vibe, they are open all day and serve breakfast, brunch, coffee and cakes, and an all day menu available 12 noon – 9pm Monday-Saturday. The newest addition to the restaurant is a brand new pizza oven installed during lockdown they will be serving traditional Napoletana sourdough pizzas produced using traditional methods and ingredients such as San Marzano tomatoes and Fior Di Latte cheese.

The Sunday lunch is an institution across Teesside and you’ll often find a queue at the door on a Sunday afternoon!

@ovenboro is not quite like any other restaurant, its individuality and independence is what makes it so special and is a true reflection of Tarek and Lisa’s passions and their roots.

You will not find their dishes anywhere else.
